KUMMANAM RAJASEKHARAN : 18th Governor of Mizoram


Rajasekharan was born on 23 December 1952 to a Malayali Nair family in the village of Kummanam in Kottayam district of Travancore-Cochin (present-day Kerala), India. He completed his school education from Government Upper Primary School, Kummanam, and later took graduation from CMS College Kottayam with a Bachelor of Science in Botany. After that he took a postgraduate diploma in Journalism. He then took a career in journalism and joined as the sub-editor of Deepika newspaper in 1974 and later in other news-dailies such as Rastravaartha, Kerala Desam, Kerala Bhooshanam, and Kerala Dwani. In 1976, he took break from journalism and joined as a government employee in Food Corporation of India (FCI). In 1979, he became Kottayam district Secretary of Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) and later became its state Joint Secretary in 1981. He resigned fromhis job at FCI in 1987 to work as a pracharak in RashtriyaSwayamsevakSangh (RSS)
He started his activities as an activist of RashtriyaSwayamsevakSangh (RSS) and SanghParivas in the state of Kerela in 1970. From 18 December 2015, he has been the state President of BharatiyaJanata Party (BJP) in Kerela.
In 1987, he resigned from the government service and he became a full-time SanghParivar worker, while being instrumental in spearheading Kerela’sVishvaHindutvaParishad (VHP), KshetraSamrakshamaSamitri, Balasadanams and EkalVidyalayas. Rajaseharan has been the Secretary of Hindu AikyaVedi, SabarimalaAyyappaSewaSamajam, General-Secretary and Chairman of Janmabhumi.
In 2012, he participated in the agitation against KGS Aranmula International Airport. He was the Chief Patron of Aranmula Heritage Village Action Council which protested against this airport
In 2011, he was appointed as chairman of the Janmabhumi daily newspaper. He was appointed as the Governor of Mizoram on May 25, 2018.
On 29 May 2018 he was sworn in as the Governor of Mizoram.
